During the pandemic, ice cream parlors have launched special flavors to raise money for nonprofits, said Tor Green, owner of Crank and Boom. Inspired by the work Mr. Moore was doing with Mr. Beshear at briefings, they created flavors like ‘Virginia Smoor’ and ‘Candy Beshear’.
Greene said Moore’s ice cream flavor was the first s’mores flavor on the menu and has become a staple in the company’s rotation of small-batch flavors during the summer months. Flavors are made with superfudge ice cream, homemade marshmallow fluff, and toasted graham crumbs.
In mourning Moore’s death and in the blessing of her family, Green said it was right to revive the flavor in memory of Moore and to raise awareness of the organization she held dear.
Pre-orders can be picked up at Clays Mill stores from June 16-22.
“I think we all saw and felt like we knew Miss Virginia, just like everyone else who watched the daily press conference with the governor,” Green said. “She was truly a person of light and joy.”
