Ian Kersting, an assistant district attorney for Orleans Parish, allegedly committed suicide inside the district attorney’s office building Saturday night, according to WVUE.
Authorities found Kersting dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in WVUE District Attorney Jason Williams’ office around 9 p.m. Saturday. reported.

The 34-year-old man is assigned to the Parish of Orleans Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), an organization that works with New Orleans Police Department detectives to investigate and prosecute sex crimes using DNA evidence, the newspaper reported. It is said that it was done.
In a statement obtained by the outlet, Williams’ office said: “Saturday night, the family of the Orleans Parish Attorney’s Office suffered a terrible tragedy.” “Assistant District Attorney Ian Kersting was a beloved member of our office, and we extend our love and deepest condolences to his family,” the statement continued.
“It is important that we support each other at this time and we ask the media to respect the privacy of the individuals affected,” the statement concluded.

Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, plowed his truck into a crowd of people at the New Orleans entertainment hub on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning, killing 14 people and injuring at least 30 others. According to To WVUE.
President Biden told the nation on Wednesday that Din Jabbar was inspired by ISIS on social media in the hours before the attack. Authorities found an ISIS flag and explosives in his rented truck.
