New Outdoor Adventure Program Launching at LakePoint State Park
A new outdoor adventure initiative named “Kayak Eufaula” is set to debut this summer at LakePoint State Park. This program is a result of a collaboration between the Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department, Alabama Power, and Innovate Alabama.
“Kayak Eufaula” will feature kayak tours, rentals, and educational activities for all skill levels, all while showcasing the picturesque backdrop of Lake Eufaula. LakePoint State Park is an ideal location for this new offering.
Matthew Caps, the director of Alabama State Parks, expressed excitement about the program’s introduction, stating, “We look forward to welcoming ‘Kayak Eufaula’ to Lake Point State Park. This park is the perfect home for this type of adventure. Guests can kayak and stay in the newly renovated lodge rooms. The Kayak Eufaula experience at Lake Point State Park opens up exciting new ways to enjoy Eufaula and the incredible outdoors.”
Grants from Innovate Alabama, a public-private partnership aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across the state, will help fund kayaks, safety gear, and training for guides.
Moreover, Alabama Power is also contributing to the project. Their involvement reflects a commitment to environmental management and enhancing recreational spaces throughout the state.
Rick Thorne, city program coordinator for the Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department, highlighted the collaborative effort that brought this opportunity to fruition. He said, “We are excited to introduce this program. It offers an amazing chance for the community to engage with nature, promote outdoor activities, and boost local tourism. We appreciate the support from Alabama, Lake Point State Parks, and Alabama Power.”
The program’s official launch event is set for June 2nd, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony along with community activities and demonstrations suitable for all ages. More details will be released in the upcoming weeks.
