Authorities reportedly accused Brooklyn men of attempted murder and assault.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) accused Longching Anchen, 49, of attacking four girls between the ages of eight and 16. New York Post (NYP) Report. One of the children, 11, called 911 and claimed that her uncle was the perpetrator. The NYPD said officers responded to the scene and shot Chen in the head and torso after holding a flesh wrap into them in their hand.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish explained to reporters on Sunday.
“one time [officers] input [the residence]they met a man standing near the entrance. The officer ordered the man to drop the weapon several times. He refused towards them and moved on,” Tish said.
“Two officers released the firearms and fired a total of seven rounds between them, attacking subjects and ending the threat,” the commissioner continued. “Inside the apartment, officers found victims, ages 16, 13, 11 and 8. All suffered serious slashes and stab wounds, and surviving officers and EMS provided emergency medical care on the scene.”
The children suffered non-life-threatening injuries due to suspected attacks and were treated at Maimonides Medical Center, she said. Chen has no arrest records, but last year he was treated for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, law enforcement sources said. New York Daily News. The outlet reported that Chen had attacked four relatives, including his 16-year-old daughter.
A spokesman for Public Information (DCPI), who is a deputy commissioner for the NYPD, confirmed with daily callers that Chen is facing multiple accusations. These include four count attempted murder, four counts first-degree attacks, four counts that put the welfare of a child at risk, and two counts that threaten police officers, among other things.
The spokesman did not confirm the accused’s relationship with the four young girls when asked for comment.
According to the NYP, authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the alleged attacks.
