I hate the Mets, but I think this is pretty cool.

McDonald's legendary character Grimmus has (amusingly) been the New York Mets' good luck charm throughout the 2024 season, and now, with just two weeks left in the season, the team has decided to honor the icon at Citi Field — and in style. Precise placement Section 302, row 6, seat 12 The Mets have installed a special seat in their stadium (a special purple one!) as part of a celebration the team is doing to show their appreciation to their fans, the team announced.

In June, Grimasu appeared at Citi Field to throw the first pitch to celebrate his birthday (the 12th) before a Mets-Miami Marlins game. At the time, New York was trailing 29-37 and it looked like it was going to be another dysfunctional season for a dysfunctional team. But Grimasu galvanized the team, and the Mets beat the Marlins and then went on to win seven straight games.

As of September, New York is riding a stellar 81-68 record and is tied with the Atlanta Braves for the final spot in the National League Wild Card race with just 13 games remaining on the schedule.
