News Flash • Board Appoints Former Legislator to LD-5 Seat

Today, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed Sara Liguori to fill the vacant seat in the Arizona House of Representatives for the Fifth Legislative District.

LD-5 covers much of central and northern Phoenix.

“Sarah Liguori's legislative experience will make her an immediate hit. With the Legislature currently in session, LD5 deserves a representative who can step in right away,” said District 3 Supervisor Bill. Gates said. “I also appreciate her business background and her generosity in working across the aisle to get things done.”

Liguori is a devoted mother of two and previously worked as a financial advisor in international banking and commercial real estate. She previously served in the Arizona State Assembly, representing the 28th District in the House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023.

Board members selected Mr. Liguori from a list of three candidates submitted by the LD-5 Precinct Commissioner, in accordance with Arizona law. Candidates had to reside within the constituency and be members of the same party as the vacated candidate. In this case, Democrats.

Mr. Liguori will serve out the remainder of his term. This position will be on the ballot in the November 5, 2024 general election.
