Former House Speaker Newt Ginrich appeared on Fox Business on Wednesday, warning Republicans to stick to conservative foundations and risk handing over Congress to Democrats in 2026.
Appearing in the “Kudlow” segment, Gingrich warned Republicans to avoid political self-faith ahead of the midterm in 2026 by following three key principles. Ignore consultants who disregard Democrat attacks, ignore communicating more effectively than Democrats, and don’t raise taxes. With 44 Republican senators signing Glovernoquist’s tax-free pledge, host Larry Kudrow said the White House could cause a legislative catastrophe, calling for a tax hike. Ginrich said he agreed and urged Republicans to continue training and adhere to the principles headed for 2026.
“Or the settlement will return, too. Take all the plausible tax cuts and hand over the rest. This is such a vandalism. And I agree with you. I think President Trump will listen to everyone.”
“I always say he listens pretty well. He just doesn’t follow. And he does what he wants. You can’t imagine the president as a businessman who has been going through a recession. He was struggling. To lay off?
Ginrich also dismissed the notion that Democrats do not attack Republicans with taxes, calling such advice “nonsense” from pollers and strategists.
clock:
“You can understand why you have a small number of pollers and advisors that you think are smart. They want to play the game of saying, ‘Oh, look, Democrats are seeing what we’re doing, so you can’t attack us with billionaire tax cuts,” Gingrich said. “That’s nonsense. Democrats lie. Democrats, it doesn’t matter what we put on the bill. They’ll lie about it. We have to learn to tell the truth better than they lie.”
Ginrich previously predicted that if Republicans warned that they were “in danger” they would face serious consequences if they lost their home in 2026. He urged the GOP to gather together a strong economic agenda to prevent Democrats from regaining control.
