McMichael’s wife, Misty McMichael, opened up about the famous footballer’s condition in an interview. Instagram post Friday. This defensive tackle was nicknamed “Mongo” and “Merciless Min”.
“Last night we were admitted to the Silver Cross ICU with sepsis and pneumonia,” Misty wrote in the caption of a social media post.
McMichael has a history of ALS and was diagnosed in 2021. According to his family, he was hospitalized in an unconscious state, but reportedly regained consciousness. new york post.
“I think prayers kept him alive. And the hope of being in the Hall of Fame, that dream is still alive. All of that together keeps him here with us.” said Misty. “The world would be a sad place if he wasn’t here anymore. So thank you for your prayers and please keep praying for him as he has another year to get through.”
McMichael has achieved many feats throughout his career, including two All-Pro selections and a key role in the team’s defensive line during the 1985 Super Bowl win. He had 92 sacks and a half, second-most of any teammate, and broke a franchise record with a successful 191-game streak from 1981 to 1993.
McMichael played 13 seasons of football for the Chicago Bears. He played for the Patriots in his rookie season and played one season for the Green Bay Packers until his retirement.
The NFL star will have a chance to be voted into the Hall of Fame in January 2024 as one of 12 players who retired before 1998.
