Matt Stevens, a former NFL defenseman, passed away at the age of 51. The news was announced by his family.
Stevens passed away on March 20th ObituaryThe cause of his death has not been revealed.
“It is a great sadness to announce the death of my beloved son and father, Matthew Stevens, 51,” read the obituary.

A two-time national in college football, Stephens has become an Appalachian state star. He is part of the App State Athletics Hall of Fame.
The Appalachian football program expressed sadness to Stephens’ family.
Stevens was selected in the third round by the Buffalo Bills in the 1996 NFL Draft. When he played for the then-Washington Redskins in 1999, Stevens tallied six intercepts in the regular season.

In 2001, Stevens was suited to the New England Patriots, winning the Championship Ring when the franchise won Super Bowl XXXVI. That year, Pat defeated the St. Louis Rams (20-17) to bring New England to the first Super Bowl Championship in team history, starting a Tom Brady-led dynasty.
Throughout his career, Stevens played in five NFL organizations.
Stephens’ additional service ceremony will be set for March 28th in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
