NFL Team’s Choice to Replace Female Cheerleaders with Male Ones Goes Exactly as Anticipated

Vikings Hire Male Cheerleaders Amid Controversy

The Minnesota Vikings have proceeded with their decision to hire two male cheerleaders, Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn, but the move hasn’t been welcomed by all fans.

After facing criticism, both cheerleaders responded through social media posts. In defending their hiring choice, the team mentioned to NBC News, “Male cheerleaders have been part of the former Viking team and have been associated with professional cheerleading in college for a long time. We support all cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organization.”

“I don’t care how the NFL spins… this isn’t cool.”

“The Biking Minnesota Viking replaced two female cheerleaders with two male cheerleaders in the 2025-26 season.”

– Daily Caller

It’s true that the NFL has a history of employing male cheerleaders. However, the new additions by the Vikings seem to stray from the typical image of cheerleading as we know it.

So, why do the Vikings want to make this choice? I mean, most NFL fans are, well, traditionally male. A lot of them are straight, married, and have kids. Isn’t it risky to alienate this core fanbase?

Are they trying to attract a different crowd, perhaps appealing more to online liberals and activists? It feels like they’re trying to look inclusive, which is fine, but at what cost?

While this isn’t on the level of other recent controversies, the decision to bring in male cheerleaders does seem questionable, potentially pushing away some devoted fans.
