Police arrested Nicolas Cage's son, Weston Coppola Cage, 33, on Wednesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Weston was taken into police custody at 7 a.m. and arrested at the police station by 7:57 a.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records. Page 6A police spokesperson said the arrest was in connection to an altercation that occurred in April, but did not say what it was about or why it took several weeks to arrest him on charges, Page Six reported. The Sun reported that the arrest was the result of Weston's mental health crisis several weeks ago, during which he allegedly punched his mother, Christina Fulton. No information has yet been released about the type of weapon allegedly used. Details about Weston's arrest continue to emerge.

A source familiar with the situation previously said the LAPD was pursuing Weston after he was allegedly physically violent towards his mother, which allegedly began as an argument and then escalated. TMZ.
At the time, it was reported that Fulton had been trying to comfort her son, who had an emotional breakdown, when he attacked her.

A source close to the family said they “knew” the arrest was imminent but “needless to say it's a massive shock.” Sun.
Weston was released on $150,000 bail, paid by Cage, according to The Sun.
