‘NIL Ran Him Away’: Reggie Bush Blasts Nick Saban Over His Decision To Retire, Claims He ‘Can’t Handle’ Modern Era

Reggie Bush might know something here…

Nick Saban, considered the greatest head coach in college football history, announced his retirement on Wednesday. 28 years In that position.

For the last 17 years, Saban was the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, leading Bama to nine SEC championships and six national titles. (Related: NFL and ESPN on the verge of signing major deal that gives league stake in 4-letter network: Report)

As you may have noticed, college football is changing before our eyes at an extraordinary level. There's name, image, and likeness (NIL), transfer portals and meeting realignment that completely change the game. And the college football legend and former NFL star claims that's why Saban is calling it a career.

Former USC Trojans superstar Reggie Bush said in an Instagram post published by ESPN, “The NIL let him go. He can't control the five-star recruits anymore and will deal with it. “We can't do that,” he said, quoting Saban's remarks for emphasis. The reason he is retiring is age.

And he added a crying-laughing emoji to the comment, which turned out to be a totally hilarious touch.

On a serious note, is Reggie Bush wrong?

Not only are other schools gaining power through NIL and transfer portal cash flow (Florida State, University of Miami, etc.), but as you might remember, Nick Saban is also finding things a little tougher. This is the same guy who ran away from the Miami Dolphins when he became …and lied in the process.

My point is…given Saban's track record, Reggie Bush might be on to something here.

Nick Saban: It's a bit of a scam.
