PRESCOTT — Freshman Elise Welker scored the winning goal with a header off a corner kick by Natalie Alengulet, and No. 1 Flagstaff defeated No. 3 Prescott 1-0 in a thrilling overtime game Tuesday night.
“Tonight was a tough battle between two great teams,” Flagstaff head coach Savannah Berry said.
The Eagles (11-1, 4-0 4A Grand Canyon) won their sixth straight game as Kate Bouck had five shots on goal and Aspen McCallie made three saves between the posts.
Prescott (9-1, 3-1, 4A Grand Canyon) had won nine straight games.
4A Boys Hoops: #6 Prescott 75, Mingus 28
PRESCOTT — Uriah Tenet scored 28 points and made 8 of 9 from the free throw line to lead No. 6 Prescott, which beat Mingus 75-28 and won the Grand Canyon Region title Wednesday night. obtained.
The Badgers (21-3, 11-0 4A Grand Canyon) have won 12 straight games and remain in contention for a spot in the open state tournament in addition to the 4A state playoffs.
Prescott, led by Zane Gall with 16 points, led 39-18 at the half and then went on a 30-6 run in the third quarter to put the game away for good.
The Badgers have two games remaining on their regular season schedule, the first being a trip to Coronado on February 1st and the final game at home against Flagstaff on February 8th.
3A Boys Hoops: #4 Holbrook 75, #11 Show Low 51
SHOW LOW — Tyler Tapaha had 27 points, Xavier Brown and Jaron Bescenti each had 15 points and No. 4-ranked Holbrook outscored Show Low 17-9 in the fourth quarter, scoring 75 on Tuesday night. They won against 51.
Holbrook (15-7, 7-2 3A East) added another win Wednesday night against Payson, 54-45, and now has a three-game winning streak.
The Roadrunners made 15 3-pointers that night.
Besenti totaled seven rebounds, and Tapaha had five assists and four steals.
Holbrook will play at Winslow on February 2nd and will conclude the regular season at home against the Snowflakes on February 7th. Both games are scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m.
2A North Boys Basketball Tournament
ST. JOHN'S — The 2A North Regional Boys Basketball Tournament is underway, with No. 1 Hopi scheduled to take on No. 4 Pinon and No. 3 St. John's against Valley in the second round in Friday night's tournament semifinals. ing.
Top-seeded Hopi received a bye and will face Pinon Club, which opened the tournament with a 73-55 win over Many Farms on Wednesday night.

2A North Girls Tournament
