‘No Love For Me’: Nikki Haley Responds To Endorsement Snubs From Home State

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley responded to some endorsement snubs from her home state of South Carolina on Saturday.

Haley blamed her relationship with the state Legislature for her lack of major support from South Carolina when she served as the Palmetto State's 116th governor from 2011 to 2017. new york post report.

“I forced them to pass ethics reform even though they didn't want to,” Haley said on her 52nd birthday. “There's a reason there's no love for me from the South Carolina Legislature,” Haley told reporters after the event at the Monadnock Historical and Cultural Center.

Haley has received just 14 endorsements from current and former South Carolina lawmakers, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has 74 endorsements, the paper said.

“In South Carolina, you don't see that I have a lot of support from the Legislature because I forced them to put their votes on the record against their will. And it's documented,” Haley said.

Former presidential candidate and South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott endorsed Donald Trump on Friday, emphasizing the former president's policies and saying, “We need a president who will unite the country,” the newspaper reported. “I was disappointed, of course,” Haley said of Scott's support for Trump. “He has to accept that decision. He doesn't have to accept that decision.”

Republican South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, who took to the stage next to President Trump at a Saturday rally in New Hampshire, also disparaged Ms. Haley. McMaster told the audience that South Carolina “is for Trump.” But Haley appeared unfazed when asked about McMaster's lack of support.

'I'm sorry, is that the guy I ran for governor and won?' Just checking,'' Haley said.
