To no one’s surprise, Judge Eileen Cannon — the person randomly appointed by Donald Trump to oversee the prosecution of the former president — quickly became the latest target of leftist outrage.
I can’t help but sympathize with her position. Unless she does everything her Left wants, they will slander her like no one has ever been slandered before in history, even to the extent that it exceeds their constitutional authority. I guess. In fact, the Left has already stepped up its outrage before Cannon even has a chance to speak. Their preemptive strikes are meant to intimidate her by testing just a fraction of what they can do – go along or not.
The New York Times, predictably, published the following article: article asking her professional qualifications, despite nearly a decade of experience as a US attorney’s assistant and a degree from the prestigious University of Michigan Law School. The article leaps over the conundrum of calculating the exact number of criminal cases she has presided over, questioning whether her “poor experience” is “prepared to handle potentially very complicated cases.” I concluded that I was throwing
If a conservative were to ask a liberal female judge such a question, it would be denounced worldwide as the height of sexism. Of course, self-proclaimed feminists had nothing to say in defense of Cannon.
Vox went further, questioning her integrity as well as her competence.that Ran In a cynical profile, she wrote that she “likely puts a very big thumb on the scales of justice and no matter how strong Trump’s allegations are, Smith will persuade the jury to convict Trump.” It would be impossible,” he said. When Republicans question the legitimacy of court rulings, it poses a threat to democracy. But for the left, the legal system is only legitimate if it gets its way.

The Washington Post’s opinion column also agreed, demanding Canon actively withdraws. Jennifer Rubin, a so-called conservative columnist for the Post, argued that Cannon was incapable of impartial governance, writing:[a]Any judgment against Trump is considered evidence of bias. An adverse verdict would be seen as an effort to restore her damaged reputation. ”
Would Rubin impose the same standard on partisan liberal judges? It’s hard to imagine. Any leftist activity from the bench would be justified because Trump is already guilty at heart. Any “judgment” against Mr. Trump would not be prejudice, but would demonstrate the fulfillment of his legal and moral obligations.
Politico and MSNBC Their defeatism goes one step further. The former believes the lawsuit is pointless because Canon has “Rule 29” fail-safe discretion. The rule would have allowed her to unilaterally acquit her, fraudulently ruling that “no reasonable jury could find the former president guilty on the basis of the evidence presented.” The latter, on the other hand, lamented that Mr. Cannon had no hope of resigning himself and that the corrupt system would not force the reassignment of cases.
The system is actually designed to help Trump – imagine that.

In short, to the left, Cannon is just a disqualified bitch who has become a fanatical faction that is almost certain to subvert the rule of law. Despite this, she has yet to show any willingness to show Trump any unfair favors during the trial. In fact, she never said anything about the incident.
For the left, it is not enough to rule consistently in the letter and spirit of the law without fear or favor. They tell us that neutrality is a myth, a means for those in power (i.e. conservative white men) to defend their privilege under the status quo. A neutral standard cannot be applied to an evil figure like Trump. Neutrality jeopardizes his chances of winning, and we can’t get it.
The left believes that true “equal” justice requires aggressive intolerance of the right and ardent support for their preferences. These corporate media hits are just the beginning of what’s to come. The Democrats and their media allies will launch a scorched-earth tactic against her unless she steps down or presides over Trump with blatant prejudice. They will go beyond her professional career and target everyone she loves, including her family and friends. They scrutinize her yearbook, interview her old roommates and boyfriends, and delve into intimate details of her past minute by minute.
All she can do is stick to her duty. America needs judges willing to conduct trials without fear or favor. Of course, she should not give President Trump any favors that violate his constitutional oath to uphold the law. But at the same time, she must not give in to the mob.
