Crews in northern Arizona are currently battling wildfires that have scorched over 400 acres.
What we know:
The White Sage Fire, attributed to a lightning strike, ignited on July 9th. It’s located around 1.5 miles from the White Sage community and approximately 15 miles southeast of Fredonia, according to information from the federal site Inciweb.
Discrepancies exist regarding the acreage affected. While Inciweb states the fire has reached 431 acres and is zero percent contained, another wildfire resource indicates the area impacted is closer to 1,000 acres.

As per Watch Duty, the Jacob Lake vicinity is under Evacuation “Set” status, while other areas have been designated “GO” status for immediate evacuation.
- All regions north of Jacob Lake
- All areas south of Jacob Lake, including Forest Service Road 212
Additionally, visitors to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon are urged to evacuate.
On another note, Adot officials have closed US Highway 89A in both directions at MilePost 595 due to the fire.
