‘Not A Friendly Migration’: Bret Weinstein Details Trip To Darien Gap With Tucker, Warns About Alleged Chinese Camp

Biologist Bret Weinstein detailed a recent trip to Darien Pass with Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson on Thursday, warning that they allegedly witnessed a mass camp of Chinese people.

Mr. Weinstein appeared on “The Tucker Carlson Encounter” to talk about his recent visit to the Darien Pass, known as one of the most dangerous ways for immigrants from South America to reach the United States. Weinstein said he went there because author Michael Yon invited him to witness the sites migrants had to pass through to survive.

The biologist described to Carlson the first camp he visited in San Vicente, Panama, and noted how openly the migrants shared their stories with the tourists. Mr. Weinstein then contrasted his first and second camping experiences at Canaan Membrillo in Panama, telling Carlson that it was “built as a transit camp” for “almost” all Chinese immigrants. He emphasized the background. (Related: The number of Chinese migrants who crossed the border in December exceeded the previous year's total)

“But what I was trying to say about the fact that I don't think this migration was just one thing was that we went to another camp called San Vicente, and we went to San Vicente. Everything is different in Vicente than it was in Canaan Membrillo.”. San Vicente, first of all, this is not a town. This camp was built as a transit camp. It is made of containers and various objects to house people. And it's almost entirely made in China,” Weinstein said.

“Chinese? That's a long way from China,” Carlson jumped.

“That's certainly true, and furthermore, in this camp, there is no rule in evidence that you can go in and walk around and talk to people. The Senafront, the Panamanian border control agency, actually told us that we were not allowed to enter the camp. We were not allowed to enter. So we had to stay outside of it. Photography was also prohibited, so the photos we have were taken in secret.” Weinstein said.

“Wait, can I ask you? So do you think the Chinese government is funding this?” Carlson asked.

Weinstein went on to claim that the Chinese immigrants were “the opposite of what was to come,” saying that unlike the San Vicente camp, they “had no interest in talking to outsiders.” The biologist also described the atmosphere at the camp, noting how there was said to be an “overwhelming” number of Chinese men of military age. “Now let me tell you another thing that I found, and the answer to it will become clear. There are Chinese immigrants outside the San Vicente camp, and you can interact with them. There are some shops you go to to buy water, snacks, etc. And you can interact with them at those places. Those are the opposite of what's coming. They can't talk to outsiders. I'm not interested in that,” Weinstein said.

“And I've been to dangerous places before. I've been to places where people are afraid of the government and can't talk to you because they don't feel safe. This is not the case at all. It didn't feel like that. This felt like people not wanting to share information because it would be wrong to share it.” Weinstein continued. Additionally, there was an incident in which Michael, who was living in China, tried to strike up a conversation with a man who claimed to be from South Korea. This is not a friendly migration, as Michael trips him up and makes him speak Chinese, but then there's a big laugh at the fact that he tried to give Michael such a ruse.

“These Chinese people are overwhelmingly men of military age, but there are women as well. It only dawned on me this morning that, looking back, there were very few, if any, children among the Chinese immigrants. They were everywhere else we visited, but as far as I remember, they weren't in the San Vicente camp,” Weinstein said.
