“There was a ton of stuff in there that had nothing to do with the Trump campaign. You're listening to this and you don't get a chance to hear the other side. She said Trump wants a national sales tax, which is not true,” McCollum said. “She said he wants to repeal Obamacare, which is not true. She said he wants to end tax cuts for small businesses, which is not true. And she made a lot of references to the 2025 plan that Trump has said he doesn't support at all, which is not part of the Republican platform.”
President Trump posted on Truth Social in July that he had no knowledge of or involvement with Project 2025 and even condemned some of the document's contents.
“What's going on with Project 2025, and the problem for Trump and Vance, is that there's undercover footage coming out of the public that shows the people who lead this project being interviewed and saying that Donald Trump really does support this,” Tarlov responded. “And J.D. Vance is writing the foreword to a book by one of the key leaders of this project, and the things she's talking about are in Project 2025.”
“But that's not in his policy platform or his campaign, and his campaign website has his actual policies,” McCallum countered.
President Joe Biden and others also criticized Trump for his support of Project 2025 at the Democratic National Convention in August.
Democratic strategist James Carville wrote in The New York Times on Tuesday: Editorialencouraged Harris to “make a decisive break” from Biden's policies, arguing that the 2024 election is an “election of change.” The vice president has yet to release a formal policy platform on Biden's platform. Website As of Wednesday, that was not the case, even though she launched her campaign on July 21.
