‘Not My Brand Of Woman’: Mixed-Race Voter Tells MSNBC She Does Not Feel Any Connection With Kamala Harris

Ramalee Austin Stripling, a biracial voter from North Carolina, said she “doesn't feel a kinship” with Vice President Kamala Harris on “Morning Joe” on Friday.

While attending the National Association of Black Journalists' convention on July 31, Trump said he did not know Harris was black, claiming she had always identified as Indian until she wanted to be “known” as black.

“Well, I would say no, maybe a little bit different,” Trump said. “I've known her indirectly for a long time, but not much directly. She's always been Indian, and she's just promoted her Indian ancestry. I didn't know she was black until a few years ago, when she happened to be black, and now she wants to be known as black. So I don't know if she's Indian or black.”

“I respect both of those people,” Trump continued, as one of the hosts fired back, “and I respect both of those people, but she clearly doesn't, because she started out as Indian all along and then all of a sudden she turns around and becomes black.”

Voters in the battleground state of Wisconsin thought Harris may have lied about her origins while speaking with ABC News host Martha Raddatz on Sunday.

Former CNN host Don Lemon and Grio White House correspondent April Ryan had a heated debate on CNN on February 12, 2019 about whether Harris is “black” or “African-American.” Lemon argued that Harris is not African-American because her father is from Jamaica.
