New Jersey Nurse Returns to Work After Controversial Incident
A nurse in New Jersey, who had raised concerns about a doctor’s remarks following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, is back at her job. The hospital confirmed her return.
Lexi Kuenzle, 33, has resumed her position at Englewood Hospital, as stated by a hospital spokesperson. They mentioned that she was not terminated and will not lose pay while the situation is under review.
According to the spokesman, “The nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts. She was never fired, nor did the hospital indicate she might be. Her pay will remain intact during the examination of this matter.” He added that Englewood Hospital is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all staff and patients.
Englewood Health has also announced the resignation of Dr. Matthew Jung, a bariatric surgeon who was named in Kuenzle’s lawsuit. Kuenzle contends that Jung had made comments about Kirk’s death within earshot of several nurses and patients. She confronted him about these remarks, which included questions about how to celebrate Kirk’s passing.
Kuenzle shared her experiences on Instagram, previously posting content with conservative viewpoints. “I was quite surprised,” she remarked, expressing her anger and upset over the incident.
She recounted being called to a meeting the day after her complaint and being suspended without pay. Her lawsuit claims that Jung even offered to buy lunch for a nurse who had overheard his comments.
Charlie Kirk, aged 31, was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, has been charged with his murder.
As of now, Englewood Health has not provided a comment regarding the situation.
