On Thursday, New York City Department of Corrections officials thwarted a woman’s plan to smuggle $15,000 worth of oxycodone pills to Rikers Island, according to the New York Post.
Taisha Beshawna-Rogers, 22, allegedly attempted to smuggle 150 oxycodone tablets into the visitor center at the Robert N. Authorities also reported that Rogers was smuggling 23 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of tobacco, according to the New York Post.

It wasn’t the first smuggling incident in the department this week, as another woman attempted to smuggle $29,000 worth of oxycodone pills into the center on June 3, the newspaper reported.
“For the second time this week, police officers have prevented a dangerous poison from entering the prison,” Molina said.
