Barbara “Barb” Kay Wangerin: 1953-2023

Barbara “Barb” Kay Wangelin was born on June 15, 1953 in Casper, Wyoming to Deacon Roius T. and Shirley Kirby.

She attended St. Anthony Catholic School until high school and then Kerry Walsh High School, graduating in 1971.

After high school, she worked a variety of jobs until she started working for an engine service. Engine Services was later acquired by Stewart and Stevenson. where she and her son, Justin, met her husband, Charles “Chip” Wangerin. They married her on September 19, 1981.

Shortly after their marriage, they welcomed a daughter together, Stacey. As a family, they lived in Casper until moving to Othello, Washington in 1989, where they stayed until moving to Pocatello, Idaho in 1995.

Barb held various jobs at Pocatello before retiring in 2017. After his retirement, he spent his days doing garden work and planting flower gardens when it was warm outside. She also spent as much time as possible with her family.

Her husband was involved with The American Legion Post 4 and she was with The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 4. They were also part of the Legion Riders with whom she met many people. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and taught her grandchildren about rock and rock hunting.

She enjoyed everything from camping and hiking to bird watching and feeding squirrels at home. She also had a deep love for dogs.

Barb always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Services are held at a later date, even those she didn’t know personally.

She has husband Chip Vangelin (Pocatello), son Justin Christman (Mississippi), daughter Stacey (Wesley) Bullock (Pocatello), mother Shirley Calby (Casper) and sister Sandy Calby (Casper). , survived by five grandchildren, Coby and Thomas Christman. , Kami & Cade Burlap & Kylie Bullock. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She predates the deaths of her deacon, Father Louis T. Calvey, sisters Jodie Garner, sisters Cindy Garner, and brother Tom Calvey.


David Lee Anderson Sr.

David Lee Anderson Sr., age 74, from Casper, WY, February 13, 2023
After a long battle with cancer and heart failure.

He fought bravely, went to work every day with a smile on his face, and was happy to see everyone. Dave was born in Denver, Colorado on July 27, 1948 and raised in Winner, South Dakota by his parents, Ray & Georgina Anderson. He was a prodigious football player and excelled in track and field.

He broke many state records and continues to hold several to this day.As a young man he made a 1957 orange

An interstate truck driver, he met the love of his life, Jeanie. They got married a few months later.

They had been married for 45 years when Jeannie died.

An avid golfer, he competed in the men’s league at Casper Municipal Golf Course.

Dave has never met a stranger. He lets anyone have a place to stay, a job, money, or take the shirt off his back. When he passed away, he attended Highland Park Community Church and enjoyed being a glitter, he was definitely a man of the people. He got up and went to work every day no matter what. He had an amazing work ethic. He loved the work he did and all the people he met over the years. He was fun and everyone liked him. Dave was a nice person.

Dave’s death was preceded by his wife Jeannie Anderson, parents Ray and Goggy Anderson, step-parents Guy and June Sidwell, and step-son Rob Webber. Dave was survived by his child, David Anderson Jr.
& Daughters Samantha Capshaw and Tammy Salisbury, and brother-in-law and sister Richard and Donna Sidwell. Grandchildren; Ryan Anderson, Lucas Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Lance Capshaw, Sarah Saulsbury & John Saulsbury Jr., Nathane Webber, Samantha McCleardy & Natalie Webber. Along with sisters Linda Klein and Joan Davis, brother Derry Anderson, and the many cousins, nieces and nephews he loved.

He loved his pets so you can make donations or charitable gifts to local animal shelters in his name. It takes place at Funerals 600 CY Ave.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00 am at Highland Park Community Church.

Judith Leslie Vacy

Judith Leslie Vacy: 1942-2023

News of the passing of former Wyoming native Judith Leslie Vacy has arrived.

Judy was born on May 29, 1942 in Kathryn, North Dakota, to Leslie and Bertha (Beck) Bakken. She grew up in Valley City, North Dakota and she graduated from Valley City High School in 1960. She attended Valley City State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

Judy died at her home in Yuma, Arizona on September 22, 2022 at the age of 80 after surgery to repair a fractured femur.

Judy married William (Bill) Vassey on August 21, 1968 at her parents’ home in Valley City. They married a second time in Hannah’s Catholic Church after she was baptized Catholic.

Judy’s first job was teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in North Dakota. She continued her teaching career during her 40 years in Wyoming. During that time she held numerous jobs for local newspapers in both Bismarck, North Dakota and Buffalo, Wyoming. While she taught elementary schools in Saratoga, Wyoming, Cheyenne, Hannah, Byrol, and Rollins, and worked at Old Her Pen in Rollins, she also spent time preparing GED inmates.

She retired from teaching at Highland Hills Elementary School in Rollins.

Judy was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Association. She was appointed to the Wyoming Community Commission by Governor Mike Sullivan, eventually becoming chairman.

Judy was also an active Democrat and was heavily involved in the Bill and other Carbon County campaigns. She organizes her events for the community during her campaign season, travels with her granddaughters Leslie and Emily, and their friends to attend parades and other events, and stays behind pickups. I got on and threw candy.

She didn’t wave and there was no door without a pamphlet. Her creativity and organizational skills have brought many political victories out of Carbon County.

When Bill retired from the Carbon County Center for Higher Education and the Wyoming State Legislature, he and Judy moved to Yuma, Arizona, where they became full-time Yumans and were close to their granddaughter Leslie, husband Jeremy, and great-grandchildren. , Aaron.

Judy was amazingly creative, had a quiet sense of humor, spoke softly until you pissed her off, made mistakes and lived life to the fullest. I spent time in the mountains of Wyoming’s Big Horn and Snowy Ranges, cross-country skiing, wilderness hiking, and camping. Her favorite thing to do was camping with Chuck and Janet and her Calkins family at her Lincoln Park above Saratoga. She and Calkins remained friends until her death, Judy.

She was also involved with the Wyoming Archaeological Organization as an amateur archaeologist.

Judy was predeceased by her father, Leslie Bakken, mother, Bertha (Beck) Gralam, sisters, Mary St. Sinn, Patricia Baldwin, nephew, Joel Baldwin, and nephew, Jake Vassey.

She is survived by Bill Vacy of Yuma, Arizona, daughter Susan (Malcolm) Diamond of Nampa, Idaho, son Richard (Marie) Vacy of Medford, Oregon, and Michael (Nanette) Vacy of Cheyenne. Uma’s grandchildren Leslie (Jeremy) Hythe, Emily (Jason) Martinez of Midland, Texas, and Jason (Kimberly) Vashey and Dinette (Matthew) Burt of Cheyenne. Grandson Ellis Jacobsen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Meg, Kate, Taryn of Medford, Oregon; Yuma’s great-grandson Orlon Heiss; Gabriel Martinez of Midland; Preston, Eva, Charlotte, Alexander, Bryson and Nolan of Cheyenne. Niece and nephew Lisa St. Sinn and Mary (David) Werken, both road-going, Lisa (Dan) Swanson and Michael (Christy) of Denver, Colorado, Jeff (Emily) Vachey, Megan Vachey and Jennifer of Jefferson, Oregon (John) Liners of Spearfish, South Dakota and Scott Baldwin of Grand Island, Nebraska.

She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and lifelong friend Gail Llewellyn.

Judy wanted her ashes scattered in Wyoming, where she feels most at home, so there are no services scheduled at this time.


Joan Francis Benest

Joan Francis Benest: 1942-2023

Joanne Frances Benest, 80, from Casper, Wyoming, died Monday, February 13, 2023 in Casper. Joanne was born June 9, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa to William Benest and Helen Benest. She is one of her three children.

Joan died before her parents. and his sister Donna.

She is survived by her daughter Diana and Jan of Colorado. She has four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. 1 great-grandchild. her two brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Cremation will take place.
