Obituary | Lee DeCoopman | Kingman Daily Miner

Lee DeCoopman, 82, died peacefully at his home on January 20, 2023.

Born in Colorado in 1940, Lee spent his childhood in Oklahoma before moving to California. In 1970, he moved with his young family to Smith City, Arizona (near Doran Springs) before retiring to Kingman.

Lee owned and operated an auto recycling, towing service, gas station, animal feed, auto parts store, and a sand drag truck off Highway 93. with Steve McQueen. Lee’s pastimes included building antiques and classic cars, golfing, and sand drugs. Quarter Mile, Figure Eight, Stock Car Race. Hang out with friends or hang out with Bear the dog.

Lee was also a longtime member of the Elks Lodge. Lee was always recognizable by his green and white polka dot hat. He lived his life purposefully and was loved by many. He left a mark on his life and our hearts.

Lee has three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration will be held in April to celebrate Lee’s life. He is buried next to the love of his life, Dorothy, in Kingman’s Mountain View Cemetery.
