The family of Patricia Louise Hills, 79, announces that she passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2023 in Prescott, Arizona. She was born on October 18, 1943 in Covington, Kentucky.
In 1953, Patricia moved with her parents and sisters to Phoenix, Arizona. She attended St. Her Gregory Grammar School and The Immaculate Heart before graduating from Xavier High School. After Xavier, Patricia went on to Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and eventually a Master’s degree in Public Policy.
Patricia’s career was diverse. While living in Phoenix, she worked for the Arizona Governor’s Office. After she moved to Prescott with her family in 1984, Patricia entered the real estate business and she eventually led the activities of her Main Street Prescott society for many years. Most recently, Patricia served as public trustee for Yavapai County before she retired in 2005. After her formal retirement, Patricia continued to provide fiduciary services for many more years.
Patricia enjoyed a rich lifestyle with many great activities. She was an accomplished gardener, artist, birder, world traveler, avid reader, and loved hiking and camping outdoors. She was a lifelong learner and always left room for curiosity. She has volunteered in many areas over the years, most notably at the Highlands Natural History Center and the Arizona Native Plant Society. Her social life was full of fulfilling and deep relationships, and she regularly spent quality time with her friends. She also attended as many special events, holidays, and gatherings as her calendar allowed, and tried to play a loving role as Nana for her five grandchildren.
Patricia is preceded by her parents, John and Ethel Hills. She has two sisters, fellow Dave, Shirley (Pat) and Barbie (Jim), a daughter Thane Wen (Corey), two sons, Gareth (Christine) and Gwynne (Jamie), and her five daughters. Survived by a man’s granddaughter. Hayle (18), Sage (16), Maysen (15), Kaylynn (13), Remy (12). Also survived her many of her beloved cousins, one niece and seven nephews.
The Celebration of Life will take place on March 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Highlands Natural History Center in Prescott, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Highlands Center. After a casual service, there will be a reception with light snacks and beverages. Carpooling is highly recommended as parking at the Highlands Center is very limited.
