The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a man and a woman involved in an assault on two hikers near Granite Basin Lake on September 6.
According to authorities in Prescott, Arizona, they are seeking assistance from the community to identify the couple accused of violently attacking hikers on the local trails.
On the morning of the incident, the two hikers encountered the pair on Trail 261 around 8:45 AM. The suspects were walking a large brown dog, and they had a short conversation about the dog.
After this brief chat, one of the suspects physically assaulted one of the hikers, reportedly attacking him several times. When the second hiker attempted to intervene, the female suspect is said to have attacked him as well.
At one point, the male suspect brandished a small black handgun, pointing it at one of the hikers before both suspects fled towards the main parking area.
Thankfully, both hikers sustained only minor injuries. The suspects had left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The male suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s or 40s, with a thin build and some stubble on his face.
The female suspect, on the other hand, is described as a Caucasian woman also in her 30s or 40s, with long blonde hair, dressed in dark shorts and wearing a white wristwatch.
They were seen with a big brown dog during the incident.
Authorities urge anyone who might have been in the area on the morning of September 6 to come forward.
