The father of 14-year-old Colt Gray, the suspect in the Apalachee High School shooting, has been arrested by Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) authorities, according to a press release Thursday.
GBI Officials Announced Collin Gray, 54, has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Georgia high school on Wednesday that left four people dead and nine injured. Authorities say he has been charged with four counts of manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of child abuse. Colt Gray was arrested Wednesday morning after police received a report of a shooting at the high school. GBI Director Chris Hosey and Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith confirmed at a press conference that the 14-year-old was a student at the school and “will be tried as an adult.”

The GBI, working with District Attorney Brad Smith, arrested 54-year-old Collin Gray in connection with the shooting at Apalachee High School. Collin is the father of Colt Gray.

Local authorities had contacted the Gray family in 2023 after an anonymous tip to the FBI about a suspected threat.
Collin Gray allegedly purchased the AR-15-style rifle used in the attack from a local gun shop as a Christmas gift for his son. said According to a timeline provided to authorities by the 54-year-old father, the gun purchase came months after authorities first contacted the family investigating a school shooting threat made online, the outlet reported.
GBI officials identified the victims in the case as 14-year-old Mason Schermerhorn, 14-year-old Christian Angulo, 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall and 53-year-old Christina Irimy.
