On and off-ramps closed at Orange Grove and I-10 for highway widening project

TUCSON, Arizona (KGUN) — Starting Wednesday, I-10 drivers on Orange Grove Road are expected to close the ramp as a major expansion project begins between Raslauf Road and Ina Road.

All Orange Grove Road on-ramp and off-ramp (except westbound off-ramp) will close at 5am on Wednesday, April 5 and will remain closed until late 2024.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will add a fourth lane in each direction to I-10 as part of a $171 million project to improve safety and traffic flow. Additional components of the project add lanes to ramps on both Orange Grove and Sunset Road.

According to ADOT, drivers should plan to use Ina Road or Ruslauf Road instead of the Orange Grove and Sunset entrance ramps.

According to ADOT, traffic will shift to service roads for the majority of the project. A spokesman said he expected to keep three lanes of traffic during peak hours and limit it to two lanes at night.

Drivers can also expect work along Sunset Road, where ADOT has already closed the side roads as of late March. Plans call for a Sunset Road Bridge over I-10.

Another Pima County-funded project is underway to extend Sunset to River Road.
