Spring football has come and gone once again, with less noise than one would expect in the spring transfer portal window and no major surprises as one would expect.
Both Alabama and Auburn ranked highly in On3's post-spring practice rankings and portal rankings with the season just a few months away.

As the initial shock of Nick Saban's retirement wears off, the buzz surrounding Alabama and new head coach Cullen DeBoer has been almost exclusively positive.
Recruitment was seen as a concern when DeBoer was hired, but the Crimson Tide's new head coach appears to have answered all questions regarding his recruiting ability within four months of taking the job.
The Tide was ranked No. 3 behind Ohio State and Georgia. At the end of the day, Alabama is still Alabama until proven otherwise, according to On3.
It was somewhat surprising to see Auburn University ranked in the top 25, but when you analyze it a little deeper it makes a lot of sense.
The Tigers were neck and neck with both Georgia and Alabama in 2023, but even though the season didn't go the way many expected, there's still reason for optimism.
First, Peyton Thorne has a year of experience in SEC football and more reinforcements are on the way.
Cam Coleman will see significant playing time as a freshman and has a chance to immediately become the team's leading receiver.
Hugh Freeze also made some big additions in the transfer portal, which should make for a much more competitive team in Year 2 than Year 1.
