On3 ranks Tide Hoops No. 1 in ‘way too early’ preseason top 25

Nate Oats and company have been having a pretty good time the past few weeks.

Following news that Grant Nelson would be returning to college for his final year of eligibility, the Tide acquired Clifford Omoruyi through the transfer portal to fill a void at the center position.

With the possibility of Mark Sears returning looming and him having to remove his name from the NBA Draft pool by the end of May, people are jumping into speculation about what the 2024-25 season will hold for the Tide.

On3 ranked the Crimson Tide as the No. 1 team in the country heading into next year in their “too early” college basketball Top 25 rankings.

After the Tide added Aiden Holloway, LaBaron Philon, Chris Youngblood, Houston Mallett and now Omoruyi in the offseason while retaining Nelson and Latrell Lightsell, Oats is poised to assemble his most talented roster to date.

The Auburn Tigers were ranked ninth on the list, followed by the University of Texas at No. 12, the University of Florida at No. 17, the University of Tennessee at No. 20, Texas A&M at No. 22 and Ole Miss at No. 24.

It's shaping up to be another great basketball season in the SEC.
