‘One Of The Greatest Play’s I’ve Ever Seen’: Lamar Jackson Catches His Own Pass For An Unbelievable First Down

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did something you have to see to believe.

Late in the second quarter of Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jackson threw a pass that hit a Chiefs lineman and rolled into the air.

Rather than dropping the ball halfway, Jackson found it, waited, caught it, and sprinted forward for the all-important first down.

This amazing feat is unusual in itself. Completing the path to yourself is something that comes or goes once a season. Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud completed his first game in the NFL. So did legendary Packers gunslinger Brett Favre.

However, none of them were completed. Stroud was fortunate to be able to return to the line of scrimmage. Favre, known more for his arm than his legs, lost a significant amount of yards.

Jackson's athletic feat is reminiscent of former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota's touchdown of his own in 2018. Interestingly, that pass and catch also happened in the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jackson's incredible first down came at a critical moment when his team was trailing 14-7. However, despite his best efforts, the MVP candidate was unable to convert his efforts into points.

The Ravens ultimately punted and the Chiefs closed out the first half with a field goal, increasing their road lead to 17-7 at halftime.
