One woman dead from gunshot wound, YCSO investigates

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A 31-year-old Yuma woman died of gunshot wounds shortly after midnight Sunday.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), around 12:16 a.m., sheriffs responded to a call that a gunshot had been fired in the West First Avenue neighborhood. Arriving police found the woman with gunshot wounds, but did not respond.

The YCSO said agents provided life support until the local city fire department arrived and took over. However, the victim, identified as Christian Galindo, 31, of Yuma, died of his injuries.

The YCSO’s Criminal Investigative Division took over the investigation and said Galindo was inside the house when the stray bullet struck.
