Online state surplus property auction starts Saturday



Looking for a riding lawn mower?

What about printers?

Or maybe you need a pickup truck or a police car?

Yes, it's a police car.

Now, these and various other items including electronic devices, bikes and farm machinery will be up for bid at the state surplus property auction being held online on Saturday.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Surplus Property Division will host the auction on Saturday, May 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ADECA acquires property no longer needed by state and federal government agencies, as well as items voluntarily abandoned by several airports in the Southeast.

Public viewing and inspection of the inventory will be held May 22-24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Surplus Property Division's Montgomery Distribution Center, located at 4590 Mobile Highway. ADECA holds regular online public auctions each year, but surplus items are available at any time to city, county, or state government agencies and qualified non-profit organizations. All items are sold “AS IS” with no warranty. All sales are final upon pick-up and removal of items.

In addition to auctioning surplus property, ADECA administers a variety of grant programs for law enforcement, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management, broadband expansion and recreational development.
