Our View: LHHS laptop rollout empowers students for a brighter future | Opinion

The Lake Havasu Unified School District’s recent decision to distribute 1,900 laptops to high school students is a commendable step toward closing the technology gap among students. At a time when computer access is becoming increasingly important in education and other areas, the move is a testament to the district’s commitment to providing students with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.

Distributing laptops like this is standard practice in many school districts across the country, and for good reason. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed wide disparities in access to technology among students. As the pandemic necessitates distance learning, it has become clear that not all students have equal opportunities to fully participate in their education. By providing laptops, the Lake Havasu Unified School District takes a proactive approach to ensuring all students have an equal chance to grow academically.
