Padres seventh-ranked right-hander Victor Lizaraga struck out three in five innings Saturday night against Fort Wayne in High Single A, allowing four hits and four walks.
Lizaraga improved to 2-5 with the win and lowered his ERA to 4.26.
Meanwhile, Padres prospective shortstop Jackson Merrill continued his strong start in Double-A San Antonio, posting two-for-four and a sacrifice fly to lift his batting average to .333 with the Missions.
Padres 11th-ranked right-hander Jairo Iriarte (0.00 ERA) allowed a hit and a walk in another scoreless inning in relief for the Missions.
Center fielder Samuel Zavala (267 batting average), the Padres’ fifth-place contender, went 0-for-1, sacrificed, walked three, hit a pitch, and scored three runs in single-A Lake Elsinore. Padres shortstop Rosman Verdugo (238) had 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 1 walk and 1 RBI in the Storm. Right-handed starter Henry Williams (5.79 ERA), a 10th-place contender for the Padres, gave up four runs on two hits, five walks and five strikeouts in three 2/3 innings at Lake Elsinore.
Third baseman Egai Rosario (.714), the Padres’ #8 contender, had 3-for-4, one home run and four RBIs during his rehab with the Arizona Complex League Padres.
Back in Fort Wayne, the Padres’ No. 23 contender, left fielder Nathan Martorella (.275), went 1-for-3 with 1 walk and 1 RBI. Second baseman Graham Polley (239 batting average), the Padres’ 30th pick, had 2-for-4 and 1 RBI for the Tincaps.

RF Luis Liberato (.262) went 1-for-2 with one walk and a stolen base. 2B Max Schrock (.266) was 1-for-3. Starting pitcher RH Anderson Espinoza (4 wins, 4 losses, ERA of 6.10) lost the game with 4 hits, 4 walks, 2 runs, and 4 strikeouts. RH Jake Sanchez (6.47) allowed 2 hits and 3Ks in his 3 scoreless IPs. RH Moises Lugo (6.00) struck out with a perfect IP.
Double-A San Antonio (8–12, 45–44) — Frisco 8, Mission 6: 2B Ripken Reyes (.269) tripled in two, walked two, hit one, and scored two runs behind Merrill. CF Daniel Johnson (.254) hit a 2-run home run in his 3rd inning, including a walk. LF Cole Cummings (.225 batting average) had one hit in three with one hit by pitch and one RBI. 3B Marcos Castanon (. 310) was 1 for his 4 at bat. Chandler Siegle (. 199) he had one hit in three at bats, one walk and one base run. Starting LH Daniel Camarena (batting average 1 win 5 losses, ERA 6.58) threw 3 2/3 innings and suffered a loss with 7 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs, and 3 strikeouts. RH Duncan Snyder (4.66) allowed him 3 runs on 2 walks and as a hitter he scored a K on 2 IPs. RH Justin Lopez (3.77) is ahead of Iriarte as he hits on 1 1/3 IPs and walks he allows one run.
High Single A Fort Wayne (14–9, 46–43) — Tin Caps 6, Lake County 4: RF Lucas Dunn (. 251) had two for four, a home run, a stolen base, two RBIs and two runs, trailing Pauley and Martorella. C Anthony Villar (.161) had 2 for 4 and 1 RBI. 3B Kelvin Pichardt (batting average: 186) hit a 2-run double with 1 walk in 3 at-bats, a stolen base, and an RBI. 1B Carlos Ruiz (.245) was 1 for his 4 at bat. RH Ethan Lautsarn (4.91) followed Lizaraga, allowing one run on two innings with three hits, one walk and one strikeout. RH Will Giades (7.88) gave him 3 hits and 1 walk in 1 2/3 IPs and 3 Ks in which he gave up 3 runs. RH Keegan-Collett (5.28) allowed hits and strikeouts in a third of IPs and had his fifth save.

LF Tyler Robertson (.326) had 3-for-5, 2 doubles, 1 hit by pitch, 3 RBIs, and 3 RBIs. DH Kai Murphy (.287 batting average) had 2 for 4, 1 home run, 1 walk, 2 RBI, and 3 RBI. 3B Devin Ortiz (310 batting average) had 2 doubles in 4 at bats, 4 RBIs, 1 walk, and 3 runs. 1B Victor Duarte (.218) had 2 in his 5 at bats, 1 RBI. ACL Rookie Padres (19–15) — Padres 8, Rockies 2: 1B Romeo Sanabria (.367) backed up Rosario, going 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly. DH Homer Bush Jr. recorded 1-for-3, 1 walk, 1 stolen base, 1 RBI, and 1 RBI in his professional debut. CF Esther Suelo (.238 batting average) doubled in his four at bats and he had one RBI. Starting pitcher Braden Nett (6.57 ERA) threw 1/3 of the 2 innings, allowing no runs with 1 hit, 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Dominican Republic Summer League Padres:
Gold (21–13) 9, Orioles 8: C Joivel Okopio (.349) had two for three, a double, two RBIs, and an RBI. 2B Luis De Leon (319 batting average) had 2 hits, 1 walk, 2 stolen bases, 1 RBI and 2 runs in 2 at bats. CF Jose Cordero (.211 batting average) hit a two-run home run in three at bats and scored two runs. Starting RH Johan Moreno (2.58 ERA) allowed two earned runs on hits and walks in four 2/3 innings, striking out seven. RH Jesús Rios (6-2, 4.32) walked for his second of his third of his IP hitless and scoreless to clinch the win.
