Pam Bondi Breaks Down the Sanctuary City Policies of DC

Bondy to End Sanctuary City Policies in D.C.

On Thursday, Attorney General Pam Bondy announced the cessation of Washington, D.C.’s Sanctuary City policies, instructing local officials to dismantle protections for undocumented immigrants facing criminal charges. This decision aims to enhance public safety and tackle rising violent crime rates.

During an appearance on Fox News, Bondy emphasized that the capital will no longer serve as a haven for those violating the law. She expressed a commitment to restoring order and security, attributing the city’s struggles to what she described as “progressive negligence.”

“D.C. will not actively protect criminal aliens in the Sanctuary City. It will not happen. Under Donald Trump’s administration, D.C. will be safe and clean again,” she stated.

Additionally, Bondy ordered the repeal of a recent metropolitan police directive that had prevented officers from making arrests based solely on immigration warrants and restricted the sharing of certain information with federal immigration authorities.

Bondy commended law enforcement for their efforts amid a troubled judicial system in D.C., citing issues like lenient bail policies and other juvenile crimes. She voiced enthusiasm for working collaboratively with federal agents to restore order.

“You have liberal judges and a lack of cash bail, and there’s a lot happening in this city,” Bondy remarked. “And we’ve been there with federal agencies in recent nights.”

She shared the results of a recent federal operation, noting, “We made 156 arrests and seized 27 firearms, along with child pornography material.”

The backdrop to these events includes a controversial police surveillance initiative launched by Trump after a government employee was injured during a carjacking attempt. While Democrats have claimed a decline in violent crimes in D.C., local data indicates that assaults, both aggravated and felony, are not fully captured in these statistics.

Recent incidents have raised alarm, including a shooting incident involving an intern for Rep. Ron Estes near the White House. This follows earlier violence that resulted in fatalities at a Capital Jewish Museum event.
