U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy announced Wednesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is filing a lawsuit against New York to oppose the Trump administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants.
Bondi appeared at a press conference in Washington, D.C., where he discussed allegations against Democratic officials, including Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James and New York Motor Vehicle Chair Mark Schroeder. The DOJ case comes almost a week after Bondi filed a lawsuit against Chicago, Cook County and Illinois over sanctuary policies. (Related: Oops! Democrats will ultimately help Trump deportation.
“This is a new DOJ,” Bondi said. “We are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens and angel moms.”
“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. Today we’re halting,” Bondy added. “We sued Illinois. New York didn’t listen. Now you’re next.”
Hochul has not issued a statement on the lawsuit, but the Democratic governor is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday.
