The censorship party suddenly worries about freedom of speech.
The opposite applies to Republicans who are anti-Americans, but still want to censor the left who are protected by the initial amendment to express those harmful opinions. But for now, let’s focus on the Democrats. (Subscribe to Mr. Right, a weekly newsletter on modern masculinity)
Democrats have long pushed to censorship conservatives, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when government officials worked to nuclear weapons from social media platforms for objections about the origins of the virus, particularly to the highest extent of the Biden administration. Of course, House and Senate Democrats have long used “misinformation” and “disinformation” guises to shatter politically inconvenient facts and stories to cheer for the White House for a terrible overrun.
But now, the arrest of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil at the hands of the Trump administration has led to numerous well-known Democrats becoming solid defenders of freedom of speech despite their long history of defending censorship. After all, it’s politics.
NEW YORK, NY – March 11: Protesters gather at Gracie Manion to protest New York Mayor Eric Adams holding Iftar, holds Muslim fast meals during Ramadan and demand the release of Mahmoud Khalil in New York City on March 11, 2025. Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and Palestinian parent activist who was arrested by immigration officials on Saturday, received a temporary reprieve from his deportation when a federal judge in New York blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to expel him until Wednesday’s meeting. According to his lawyer, Halil has a US green card, a legal resident. (Photo: David Dee Delgado/Getty Images)
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer Emphasised He evokes the First Amendment, spiing Halil’s views on Palestine and Israel.
I dislike many of the opinions and policies that Mahmoud Khalil holds and supports, and I am known for my criticism of anti-Semitic behavior in Colombia. Mr. Halil is again a legal permanent resident here, and his eight-month pregnant wife is an American citizen.

Hakeem Jeffries, House Minority Leader issued A similar statement says that without the crime committed by Halil, the Trump administration’s actions are “very inconsistent with the US Constitution.”
Meanwhile, a few “team” members and leftist lawmakers, who were as unchanging about the issue of Halil’s innocence as Schumer and Jeffreys, came out strong, suddenly, as advocates of the fierce First Amendment. (Related: Trump’s latest legal move is to drive massive wedges among Democrats)
“We have to be very clear. This is an attempt to criminalize political protests and a direct attack on the freedom of speech of everyone in this country.” I said In a letter to the Department of Homeland Security’s Christa Noem Department.
There is also irony on all leftists who claim that speech is equivalent to violence. The same activists then destroy property on university campuses around the country, claiming that violence is indeed free speech.
It’s all a bit offended, but on the course of national politics it’s a par, with all elected representatives being reflexive cheerleaders, adopting principles and giving up them when it’s convenient to score points against the other side.
