New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boot was arrested Thursday in Batonroot, Louisiana, on suspicion of gambling on sports while at LSU, according to ESPN.

Louisiana State Police have charged a 21-year-old man. Boutte The suspect is charged with one felony count of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of prohibited gambling for persons under 21 years of age. Police said additional charges may be filed pending the investigation. ESPN.

From April 6, 2022 to May 7, 2022, Boutte, then 20 years old, was found by investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gambling Enforcement Division to illegally bet on sports. According to the outlet, the current Patriot allegedly used a fake name so he could place bets in Louisiana to circumvent age restrictions.

An alias account believed to have been used by the former LSU star placed more than 8,900 bets, at least 70 of which were on college football games, including at least six on the Tigers, according to ESPN. It was a match.

“In July 2023, LSU became aware of a former student-athlete's allegations of inappropriate conduct related to sports betting while in college,” LSU said in a statement Thursday, according to ESPN.

“Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. There is no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities. The NFL has not commented on Boutte's arrest.
