Payne Sworn Into Yavapai College District Governing Board

Payne is a Nisei from Arizona who grew up in Phoenix and spent 25 years in Cave Creek and Carefree. During his 30 years as an entrepreneur in the audiovisual industry, he was the founder of the State Sound of Arizona and for 10 years he taught at the Professional Development Institute of the International Telecommunications Industry Association.

Payne previously served on the Board of Trustees of Cave Creek Unified School District and twice served as Board Chair.

Over the years, he has worked with a variety of non-profits and community groups, including Arizona City Hall, Kiwanis, field trips to the Mabury Pavilion on the Clarkdale campus of Yavapai College, the Clarkdale Jerome School District Growth Commission, and Verde Valley Amateurs. radio association.

The role of the Yavapai College District Board of Trustees is to act as a link between Yavapai County taxpayers and the college’s executive management. They fulfill this accountability by creating policies that govern the College’s operations, and hold the College accountable for its delegated areas through a structured oversight process.

The board is composed of five community members elected from districts in Yavapai County.
