PRESCOTT, Arizona — A man in Prescott is in custody after a domestic incident injured his son-in-law and killed his wife.
According to the Prescott Police Department, officers received at least two calls that two people were shot at an apartment near Granite Street and Willis Street around 7:54 p.m. Tuesday.
When police arrived, the 57-year-old man Thomas Lind came out of his apartment and told the police that he had shot his adult stepson and then his wife shot himself.
A 23-year-old son-in-law was found indoors with a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Officers also found Lind’s wife, a 46-year-old woman, with a gunshot wound to her head.
Police said they determined that a domestic argument had taken place between Lind and her son-in-law. During the altercation, Lind fired a shot that hit her son-in-law in the lower abdomen. After this initial shooting, police said Lind’s wife had apparently committed suicide by taking a handgun out of her bedroom.
Both victims were taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center, where the female victim died. The victim was taken to a hospital in the Phoenix area and is said to be in a stable condition.
Ms Lind was taken into custody and admitted to shooting her son-in-law during an argument. Lind turned out to be a prohibited owner of firearms. He was transferred to the Yavapai County Jail and charged with aggravated assault for domestic violence and misconduct with a weapon.
