Pearl takes jab at Crimson Tide, references ticket prices in Neville Arena vs. Coleman Coliseum

The rivalry between Auburn and Alabama has been heated on the basketball court for the past few years, with Bruce Pearl and Nate Oats raising the bar of expectations for both teams.

Speaking at a charity event, the Auburn University head coach offered a friendly dig at his cross-state rival, noting that it's much cheaper to attend an Alabama basketball game than an Auburn one.

While talking about basketball's Iron Bowl, Pearl asked a member of the audience if he knew how much it cost to attend the game at Auburn University.

“Have you ever tried that? It costs $500 to buy a ticket. You can go online and buy tickets to Coleman Coliseum for $5. War Eagle!” Pearl said, laughing as he stepped down from the stage.

Going forward in 2021, Auburn or Alabama have won five of six possible SEC titles.

Alabama has won the regular season and tournament titles in 2021 and 2023, while Auburn won the regular season title in 2022 and the tournament title last season.

It's fair to say Pearl, who once coached at Tennessee, another Tide rival, has no affection for Alabama, but as long as both coaches are there, the teams will compete for titles and the intense rivalry will continue to evolve.
