Hollywood embodied its own stereotype on Sunday at the Oscars as jokes about pedophilia have entered the program.
Awards show host Conan O’Brien waited until mid-life broadcast to highlight Hollywood’s long-standing reputation as a pedophile breeding ground. He referenced the Super Bowl halftime show and the highly publicized feud between singers Drake and Kendrick Lamar. O’Brien took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood after the commercial break and said, “Well, we’re in the middle of the show. So it’s time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile!”

Lamar and Drake have been trading diss tracks on public spats for several months. Their conflict escalated when Drake sued Lamar for calling him a pedophile in his song “Not Like Us.”
Lamar continued to run the diss track at Super Bowl Lix despite facing an honor-defacing lawsuit due to his lyrical accusations. He dodged legal issues by excluding the word “pedophile” in his craft display, but continued to drag his arch nemesis publicly through his performance.
O’Brien mimicked Lamar’s conscious diss after revealing Drake on stage at the awards show.
“Don’t worry, I’m a lawyer!” he said. (Related: Conan O’Brien roasts trans actor Cara Sofia Gascon in Oscar’s opening monologue)
Pedophilia remains a recurring dark cloud over Hollywood, with sexual assault allegations continuing to rise. The long list of assailants has become even more famous for the heinous acts they committed than the careers they left behind.
