“On a warm sunny day or summer afternoon in Arizona, the temperature of asphalt, pavement, concrete, and sidewalks can sometimes be 180 degrees—a little below boiling, so there’s really something there,” Foster continued. He noted that it takes less than a second to get a fairly serious burn on the sidewalk.
