Peruvian Man Accused of Murdering Wife Attempted to Shift Blame to ICE for Her Vanishing

Mother Found Dead After Allegations Against Husband

A 33-year-old mother from Southern California was discovered deceased on Saturday, following her claims that her husband had scared her about immigrating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) before he fled to Peru.

The Montrose Search and Rescue team located Shella Cabrera’s body at the base of an embankment in Angeles National Forest. This information follows a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. Cabrera was reported missing on August 12, prompting concerns from family members.

On August 13, investigators at Lancaster Station found video surveillance footage that appeared to show Cabrera’s husband, Josimar Cabrera, dragging a large object wrapped in cloth out of their apartment where he, Shella, and their three young sons resided.

Neighbors, via ABC7, highlighted the disturbing nature of the footage, which seemed to show him moving her body. Family members were worried about Shella’s well-being, but Josimar told her sister a different story, claiming that ICE had taken her. He later suggested she had an accident and left with another man.

After the missing persons report was filed, Josimar quickly became a person of interest in the investigation. However, it was revealed that he had already traveled to Peru with their three children. Authorities coordinated with the Mexican and Peruvian consulates, discovering the children at Lima Airport, where they were placed into custody.

Although Josimar was questioned, he was not detained. According to reports, there wasn’t a warrant that allowed authorities to apprehend him. Shella’s mother mentioned to Latina Noticias that her daughter had intended to file a report against Josimar for alleged psychological and physical abuse.

Helga Rosillo, Cabrera’s mother, expressed concern about her daughter’s situation, mentioning that Josimar had physically abused Shella and once slapped her youngest grandchild.

At this point, officials are still determining the appropriate charges against Josimar Cabrera while preparing the necessary documents to facilitate his potential return to the U.S.

As of now, ICE has not commented on the situation.
