Peyton Manning was absolutely stunned!
Despite an overall terrible game, the Atlanta Falcons provided some late entertainment in the form of a flashy game-winning drive against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. And the Falcons magic was in the hands of Philadelphia. 21-15 They took the lead with just 1 minute, 39 seconds remaining.
Superstar Quarterback Kirk Cousins The Dirty Birds pulled out a shocking 22-21 victory, but it all happened because of a costly Eagles mistake on third-down and short in Falcons territory.
With 1 minute, 46 seconds left in the game and Atlanta out of timeouts, Philadelphia had the ball at the Falcons' 10-yard line. (RELATED: Rams' Cooper Kupp expected to miss 'extended time' with ankle injury, could be placed on injured reserve)
In this situation, it's pretty clear what the right play call is. Most coaches would run the ball, save the clock, and pray for a first down to win, but if they don't, they'll just have to be content with a field goal. If the Eagles had done that, Atlanta would have had almost no time to do anything and Philadelphia would have pretty much won.
But for some reason, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had his running backs try short pass plays. Saquon Barkleyand lo and behold, it backfired in Saquon's face because he dropped the pass. And not just dropped it, he watched it roll out of his hand! Philadelphia managed to get a field goal, but they gave Atlanta way too much time on the clock.
NFL legend Peyton Manning witnessed the incident on ESPN's “Manningcast” and nearly lost his mind from what he saw.
