Phil Williams stands by Trump’s immigration policies in a CNN discussion, stating, ‘The claims of harsh treatment at Alligator Alcatraz are just untrue.’

Former Alabama Senator and host of “Radio on the Right,” Phil Williams, appeared as a panelist on CNN’s “Newsnight” on Monday.

During the segment, he defended President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and the use of Florida’s “Crocodile Alcatraz” detention centers.

“When I was a state senator, we had ICE detention facilities in my district,” Williams stated. “I was involved in various aspects, from the necessary requirements to the grants and upgrades needed. All federal detention facilities follow strict guidelines, and these individuals receive three meals and a bed.”

“The claim that they’re being mistreated or dehumanized is, frankly, incorrect. I reject that notion,” he added.

CNN contributor Anna Navarro challenged him, suggesting he lacked knowledge about the facility since he had never visited it in Florida, which was later found to be inaccurate.

“I haven’t been there yet,” Williams responded. “But according to Congress, you don’t need to visit in person to understand the necessary qualifications.”

He also argued that the Trump administration’s initiative to encourage some illegal immigrants to return to their home countries is a positive move.

“Some aspects lead to self-deportation; they actually offer $1,000 and free plane tickets,” he insisted. “That’s why self-deportation shouldn’t be feared.”

As he faced more challenges from fellow panelists, Williams stood firm. “Some on the left depict deportation as excessively harsh, suggesting it’s a heavy-handed approach,” he noted. “It’s like saying, ‘We’ll pay you to go home.’ It’s free tickets and flights back.”
