A truck fire broke out under the entrance ramp of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia early Sunday morning, causing part of the road to collapse and part of the highway to be closed, according to NBC News.
Officials are investigating the destruction on the northbound side of the interstate, but reported that the southbound side was damaged, according to NBC News. Philadelphia Fire Chief Derrick Bowmer said a spill from a truck fire was causing an underground explosion, and urged drivers to avoid the area because the highway is not expected to reopen any time soon, according to the Times. recommended.

“We’re going to be here for a while,” Bomer added. “Fire is coming out of the manhole.”
Authorities have been unable to identify the truck responsible for the vandalism as no trace of the driver was found.
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. near Cotman Avenue on the ramp to Interstate 95 when the truck began to emit smoke and flames. Police vehicles blocked traffic on the northbound section of the highway at the Alamingo Avenue exit.
