Lauderdale County Assemblyman Philip Petus has officially announced his bid for re-election, as stated in a campaign release on Wednesday morning. He has been serving as the representative for Alabama House District 1 since 2014 and has cultivated a strong reputation as an advocate for his constituents.
The announcement highlighted that Petus, a former Alabama trooper, identifies as a Republican dedicated to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and fostering community values.
“On your behalf, I’ve worked hard to protect your hard-earned money and uphold the conservative ideals that can strengthen our country,” Petus remarked. “We take pride in our accomplishments, but there’s still work to be done, and we are ready to keep serving the people of District 1.”
Petus aligns his values closely with those of President Donald Trump.
“Trump supports me because we fight for the same principles – faith, freedom, and fairness,” he noted.
Throughout his time in office, Petus has prioritized infrastructure, advocating for investments in roads, bridges, and broadband connections that benefit North Alabama. He also emphasized reducing waste while maintaining essential services like education, public safety, and programs for veterans.
“Our residents deserve good roads, safe neighborhoods, and strong schools. They need a government that accomplishes more while spending less,” Petus stated. “That’s what I’ve delivered, and that’s the fight I continue.”
A graduate of Rogers High School and the Alabama State Trooper Academy, Petus is a husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife, Mary, are active members of Atlas Church in Killen, Alabama.
