Malik Hillman, 20, dies after shooting in western Phoenix
what happened: A man was killed in a shootout between two people in separate cars just before 1 p.m. west of Phoenix. Police have identified Malik Hillman, 20, as the man who was shot dead.
where and when: Near 60th Lane and Virginia Avenue on July 3rd.
Arrested: No arrests had been made as of July 4, but police were searching two cars involved in the shootout.

Melissa Gutierrez, 44, and Orlando Osegenda, 22, killed in shooting near Gila Bend
what happened: Two people were killed and a man was arrested in a shooting at Gila Bend around 1 p.m. Lawmakers later identified Melissa Gutierrez, 44, and Orlando Oseguenda, 22, as the two victims.
where and when: July 2, near Paloma Road and Interstate 8.
Arrested: Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department officials arrested David Diaz, 21, and charged him with “related charges.” The sheriff’s office was not looking for other suspects in the case.
James Dunbar, 18, found dead in his vehicle near 19 Northern Avenue
what happened: Phoenix police responded to a gunshot call at around 12:45 a.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside his car. He was identified as 18-year-old James Dunbar.
where and when: Near 19th Street and Northern Avenue on July 2nd.
Arrested: Patrol personnel at the scene learned that a man and a woman had been seen fleeing the shooting into a nearby apartment building. Several people were called from the apartment, including the suspect, who later turned out to be a teenage boy. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and sent to second-class juvenile court.
