Phoenix ties all-time record for most 110+ degree days Monday

Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Sky Harbor Airport recorded temperatures above 110 degrees Celsius for 18 consecutive days. That includes his 115 today, which is only a provisional high as of this writing at 3:15 p.m. This ties his record that dates back to 1974 and will clearly break the record tomorrow, barring some very unusual and unforeseen weather. A streak of 20 days or more is likely to be easily achievable. A high of 116 is expected tomorrow, with a recorded 117 on Wednesday.

It looks like the humidity around the state will gradually increase this week. As a result, thunderstorms should increase throughout the state, but mostly in the mountains of northern Arizona and in the southeastern corner of the state. Areas south of the valley along Interstate 10 to Tucson have a dust advisory for the rest of the time, so be careful if you travel south. An isolated strong thunderstorm is currently occurring in northwest Arizona and Pima County.

On this day in 1984, a microburst damaged approximately 100 homes on Mesa. Flood depths reached up to 3 feet in some areas of Mesa.
